The findings indicate that the area supports a rich variety of migratory and resident birds, thriving mangrove stands, and diverse plankton communities. Specifically, 637 birds across 40 species were recorded, including migratory species, with the sampling station nearest the discharge point showing the highest bird abundance, including approximately 250 Greater Flamingos. Mangrove stands, dominated by Avicennia marina, were found to be healthy and provide shoreline stabilization. The plankton community comprised 22 phytoplankton and 23 zooplankton species, suggesting a balanced marine food web.
Seawater quality parameters such as pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and biochemical oxygen demand were found to be within typical ranges for a healthy coastal marine environment. This assessment is part of the biennial monitoring requirements for the treated wastewater discharge pipeline project.
